I am currently a PhD student in the Science and Technology Studies program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. My research focuses on holistic wellness practices and their relevant technologies, exploring how self-knowledge, bodily maintenance, and attempts at self-actualization are used to legitimate or resist the biomedical model of health, contemporary technology culture, and socially prescribed personal identities.
Prior to entering my PhD program, I conducted a research project at the Center for Technology, Society, and Policy at UC Berkeley investigating how neighborhood watch is enacted with modern technology, particularly on the use of the social network Nextdoor.com in diverse neighborhoods of Oakland, California. I’ve also worked as a professional UX Designer in the SF Bay Area, after earning a Master’s of Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University and an MA in Psychology from New York University.
Feel free to contact me if you’re interested, or think that we’d have a good conversation!
